Earthquake Relief Benefit, Henry J. Kaiser Auditorium, Oakland, CA, 11-26-1989, Part 6 - Taj Mahal with Bobby McFerrin

Here's Part 6 of the 1989 Earthquake Relief Benefit concert in Oakland, California. This is a set by Taj Mahal. He was joined by Bobby McFerrin on vocals for the last three songs.

Up until now, most of the musical acts in the Oakland benefit concert hadn't been popular since the late 1960s and/or early 1970s, and some of them had only recently reunited. But now we start to get into some more popular acts.

However, Taj Mahal also had some "wilderness years." He didn't release any new music from 1977 to 1987. He kept a low profile while living in Hawaii. However, he released a well-received comeback album in 1987, "Taj," and has steadily released new albums ever since then.

Bobby McFerrin probably was more famous at this time. That was largely due to his song "Don't Worry, Be Happy," which was a Number One hit in the U.S. in 1988. However, he avoided singing that song here and just assisted Taj Mahal in singing some blues classics.

This album is 34 minutes long.
