Emmylou Harris & Steve Earle - City Winery, Nashville, TN, 4-3-2021

I recently discovered that Emmylou Harris performed about six concerts at the City Winery in Nashville in 2021, as people were just starting to attend concerts again due to the Covid pandemic. The concerts were done to benefit local charities helping with animal welfare, and each was different than typical Harris concerts in some way. I was able to find two of them on YouTube. This one is special because it was a joint acoustic concert with Steve Earle. The two of them took turns singing songs and telling stories in front of a very small audience, with excellent sound quality.

If you want, you can find the video of this on YouTube and watch the concert instead of just listening to it. I converted the video to audio, then chopped it into mp3 files.

The sound quality is excellent because the concert was a webcast. I missed it at the time, but better late than never. I plan on posting the other concert I found soon.

Covered: Neil Young, Volume 9: 2020-2022

Here's the ninth volume of the "Covered" series for Neil Young. We're getting near the end, with only one more volume after this. Once again, thanks to Fabio from Rio for doing most of the work putting this together. Here's Fabio's summary of this time period:

The early 2020s brought an unexpected new chapter in the long afterlife of Neil Young's songs. During the Covid pandemic years, musicians around the world turned to home recordings, livestream performances, and online collaborations. In that environment, Young's catalog proved once again remarkably adaptable: intimate acoustic songs worked perfectly in stripped-down home recordings, while his electric epics continued to inspire roots-rock and Americana bands. At the same time, Young himself remained a visible cultural figure, both through the expanding Neil Young Archives project and through public debates about streaming platforms and artists' rights. The covers in this volume reflect that moment: a mixture of independent artists, online collaborations, and established performers revisiting songs from every phase of Young's long career.

Bettye LaVette - Soulville - Non-Album Tracks (2017-2023)

I've been posting a few Bettye LaVette albums lately. Here's another one. It's another collection of non-album tracks, from 2017 to 2023. This gets us caught up to current day, since I didn't find any non-album tracks worthy of inclusion since 2023.

Six of the songs here are unreleased: tracks 2, 6, 7, 9, 10, and 12. All of them are from concert bootlegs. They generally come from tribute concerts. I removed the audience cheering from all of them so they'd fit in better with the studio tracks.

Tracks 1 and 3 come from the deluxe edition of "Music from The American Epic Sessions." Track 4 is from the Todd Rundgren album "White Knight." Tracks 8 and 11 are from tribute albums. For more details, look at the mp3 tags for each song, as usual.

Joan Armatrading - BBC Sessions, Volume 6: 2011-2021

I was going through my music collection recently, and I noticed some albums in there that I thought I'd posted at my blog, yet I never had. Here's one. I previously posted five BBC albums by singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading. The previous four were concerts, but this one is a collection of studio sessions.

The first song is from a brief revival of the Old Grey Whistle Test BBC TV show in 2011. It has been released on an album, called "The Old Grey Whistle Test: Live." Everything else here is unreleased. The second song is from the BBC Folk Awards in 2016. Tracks three through five are from a 2016 radio session. Tracks six and seven are from another 2016 radio session. Finally, tracks eight and nine are from a 2021 radio session.

Most of the songs are in solo acoustic format, but not all. By the way, if anyone knows of additional BBC sessions by her that I missed, please let me know. It's easy to miss some of these.

Covered: Antonio Carlos Jobim, Volume 3: 2012-2024

Here is the third and final Covered album celebrating the songwriting of Antonio Carlos Jobim.

I didn't get around to writing about the basics of Jobim's life with the first two volumes in this series, so let me do that now. Jobim was born in 1927 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the 1940s, he made a living playing piano in bars and nightclubs in Rio. His first song to be recorded by someone happened in 1953. But he didn't have significant success until 1958, when Joao Gilberto recorded what would become one of his most famous songs, "Desafinado (Out of Tune)." Then, in 1964, he really hit it big with "The Girl from Ipanema." A version of that song by Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto reached the Top Five in the U.S. singles chart. But its success went way beyond that. In fact, it has become the second most recorded song of all time, behind only "Yesterday" by the Beatles.

This song led many people to discover not only other songs written by Jobim, but songs from Brazil in general, especially bossa nova music. For a couple of years, there was a sort of bossa nova craze in Western countries, especially in the jazz world. Jazz musicians in particular fell in love with Jobim's songs, because they were both musically complicated and interesting while being tuneful and catchy. Many of his songs became standards. Looking at the website secondhandsongs.com in 2025, which tallies cover versions, I count 34 songs written or co-written by Jobim that have been covered over 100 times. It may not sound like a lot, but that's a crazy amount. By comparison, only 18 songs by Bob Dylan have been covered over 100 times. Or consider Carole King, one of the most successful songwriters of all time. Only eight of her songs have been covered over 100 times.

Jobim released several dozen albums, with about half of them being collaborations with other famous musicians. He often collaborated with singers, since he wasn't much of a singer himself. His own albums didn't sell that well, but his collaboration albums often did. Overall, he had much more success with other musicians covering his songs.

He died in 1994 at the age of 67. As a result, all of the songs here are from well after his death. Most of them were written in the 1950s to 1970s, and it just so happens these are the versions that Fabio from Rio and I liked the best (since all three of these albums were put together by Fabio and myself). As with the two previous volumes in the series, the focus was on songs sung in English, when in fact there are even more covers of his songs in other languages, especially Portuguese, which is spoken in his home country of Brazil.

Thanks again to Fabio of Rio for his helping putting this Jobim albums together. I already had plans to make Covered albums from Jobim on my own. But they wouldn't have been nearly as good without Fabio's input, since he's much more familiar with this type of music than I am.

I don't know when it was taken, but I'd guess it's from the 1990s, because the two of them collaborated on a song around then which was released in 1996. The original version was black and white, but I colorized it with the help of the Kolorize program.

Norah Jones - Tryin' to Keep It Together - Non-Album Tracks (2020-2023)

Here's another collection of non-album tracks from Norah Jones.

The Covid pandemic dominated 2020 until 2022. During that time, Jones kept quite busy with frequent home concerts. She played enough unique songs in those concerts for me to post two albums of those (as well as all of his home concerts in full). This avoids all of that in other to avoid duplication. Additionally, during this time she hosted a podcast and played even more unique songs. I'm avoiding all those as well. Hopefully those will be the subject of a future album or two posted here, though she also has released an album of highlights from her podcast, called "Playing Along."

The first two songs are bonus tracks from her album "Pick Me Up Off the Floor." Tracks 3, 4, 7, 8, and 10 are unreleased. All of those are from concerts, though most of those were not in front of audiences due to the Covid pandemic at the time. For the two that did have audience applause, I got rid of that using the MVSEP program, so they would better fit in with the studio tracks.

Tracks 5 and 6 are bonus tracks from her 2021 Christmas album, "I Dream of Christmas." The song "I Dream of Christmas" was co-written by Jones, so it's a bit strange it was only a bonus track for the album that was given the same name as the song. Track 9, "Steer Your Way," is from a Leonard Cohen tribute album. The last two are also from a concert, but an officially released one, celebrating Willie Nelson's 90th birthday.

Ron Sexsmith - Reasons to Believe, Volume 8: 2016-2023

Back in early 2024, I started posting this series of non-album tracks by Ron Sexsmith. This was the idea of a musical associate, Pete the Greek, and I wouldn't have done it without his instigation and continual help. Finally, after a year and a half, the series comes to an end with this eighth volume. (Or at least it's ending until Sexsmith puts out another albums' worth of stray tracks, but that could take years.)

This album is a fairly even split between released and unreleased songs. The released ones are tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10 and 11. One of those, "Flowers All Along the Pathway," is a bonus track from the Sexsmith album "The Vivian Line." Most of the rest are appearances on albums by other musical acts, or on various artists compilations.

That leaves the unreleased songs, which are the remaining six. These are all from concerts, home concerts, or radio shows. For the ones that had audience applause, I got rid of that using the MVSEP program to help them fit in with the other songs without applause.

Sheryl Crow - Nobody Told Me - Non-Album Tracks (2020-2022)

It's time for another stray tracks album from Sheryl Crow. Actually, I only need another song or two and I'll have enough to get caught up to present day. So I hope that'll happen soon.

After a 2019 album, "Threads," Crow said she was done with putting out albums and would switch to releasing singles instead. She hasn't entirely kept to that, since she released another album in 2024. But she has released fewer albums than before, and she also has released some songs only on singles. There are three single A-sides here, tracks 3, 9, and 10. Additionally, "Still the Same" is another original, released on a compilation album. Tracks 4, 5, 7, and 11 are from appearances on albums by other musical acts. 

That just leaves the unreleased songs. There are four of those, tracks 1, 2, 6, and 8. The first three were live but without an audience, because this was during the Covid pandemic, when home concerts were happening instead of concerts in front of crowds. For the tracks with audience noise (tracks 4 and 8), I removed the cheering with the MVSEP program so it would fit in with the studio tracks.

Various Artists - Songs in the Key of Brian - Remembering Brian Wilson (1975-2021) (A Fabio from Rio Guest Post)

One of the all-time great musical geniuses, Brian Wilson, died a few days ago, on June 11, 2025. He was 82 years old. I wanted to post something to mark his passing. Luckily, I've recently been collaborating with a new musical friend, who goes by the name Fabio from Rio. He's a big fan of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys, and came up with the idea of creating an album consisting entirely of songs about Brian Wilson. So that's what this is. I gave him free reign, and only helped him some with suggestions on song selection.

I would have never come up with the idea for this album, because I had no idea that there would be enough songs about Brian Wilson to make up an entire album. I knew of the song "Brian Wilson" by Barenaked Ladies, since that was a hit back in the 1990s, but that was about it. But Fabio must be a really big fan, because he found so many songs that we had to cut some out to keep the album from getting too long.

The album starts with a rare demo written and sung by Wilson himself. It also ends with two more written and sung by him, including a rare live version of "Love and Mercy." Fabio explained the reasoning for this in an email, which I liked. I'll just paste in his explanation here:

"The Wilson tunes are bookends, as they serve to introduce and close the 'main event' (all the tracks written to him or about him) while bringing a personal Brian touch to the collection. The first song, a 1975, demo works as a prelude (acknowledging Brian's fragility and strength both simultaneously contained in his voice), 'The Last Song' is the epilogue, and 'Love and Mercy' is a coda." 

Regarding the rest of the songs, what Fabio calls the "main event," tracks 2 through 13, are basically divided into two parts. Tracks 2 through 8 are direct tributes to Brian. That's obvious by their titles, but it's not just that: the lyrics and musical style ooze reference and admiration for the man. That's followed by tracks 9 through 13, which are indirect tributes to Brian, or direct tributes to things related to him (the Beach Boys, his health shop, girls, his genius, family), all mentioning him either in the title or lyrics.

So, a big thanks to Fabio from Rio for coming up with the idea for this album and then finding and selecting the songs. As you could guess from the name, he's Brazilian, and hopefully in the future he'll be able to assist in sharing more music from Brazil. I like a lot of music from Brazil, despite not speaking Portuguese at all. I haven't really shared any music from Brazil until now, because I don't have worthy rarities. But he does, so look forward to that in the future. He also has some other plans, including creating one or more albums as a further tribute to Wilson that will consist of songs in a Beach Boys style composed by other musical acts.

John Fogerty - Weeping in the Promised Land - Non-Album Tracks (2013-2022)

I recently got a request from a commenter to post more of my non-album track albums by John Fogerty. I only have one more by him before we get to the present day, more or less. So here it is. (And by the way, I still have lots of these stray track albums to post by various musical acts, but they've been on the backburner compared to BBC albums and other things recently.)

In 2013, the year of the first song in this album, Fogerty was 68 years old. In 2022, the year of the last song in this album, he was 77 years old. As I write this in 2025, he still has a strong voice and plays lead guitar very well, but it's obvious his songwriting creativity has slowed way down. He hasn't released an album of new original songs since 2007. So the songs here mostly consist of cover versions, plus acoustic versions of songs from earlier in his career, with only a couple new originals ("The Holy Grail" and "Weeping in the Promised Land").

The first song, "Sharp Dressed Man," is a ZZ Top song done with Billy Gibbons, the lead vocalist and lead guitarist in ZZ Top. Both Fogerty and Gibbons sang and played lead guitar on it. It's unreleased, from a bootleg. "New Orleans" is a cover of a 1960s hit performed in concert for a Dr. John tribute album. "Give Peace a Chance" and "In My Life" are John Lennon songs done for a Lennon tribute concert in 2015. They come from an official album of highlights of that concert. Tracks 5, 6, 11, and 12 are unreleased acoustic versions of hits Fogerty had earlier in his career, mostly from when he a member of Creedence Clearwater Revival. They're from radio or Internet shows. "Long as I Can See the Light" is particularly interesting since it was played on piano instead of guitar as usual. 

"Love and War" is a song performed with country star Brad Paisley from his 2017 album, also called "Love and War." "I Won't Back Down" is a cover of the classic Tom Petty song. This is from an concert bootleg, and the sound quality is a little poorer than the other songs. "The Holy Grail" is a single from 2018, and "Weeping in the Promised Land" is a single from 2021. 

"With a Little Help from My Friends" is a cover of the Beatles song from the 2019 official live album "50 Year Trip: Live at Red Rocks." However, it is done in the same style as Joe Cocker's famous hit cover version. "Walk, Don't Run," is a cover on the famous instrumental hit by the Ventures. Fogerty only performed it once in concert, on January 22, 2022, because it was done in honor of the lead guitarist for the Ventures, Don Wilson, who died earlier in the day. Finally, "The City of New Orleans" is yet another cover song of a classic, done from a various artists collection of train songs in 2022.

Paul Weller - BBC Sessions, Volume 20: An Orchestrated Songbook, Barbican Theatre, London, Britain, 5-15-2021

Phew! I can't believe I'm finally posting the last Paul Weller BBC album. (At least for now. I'd be shocked if he doesn't keep doing more BBC concerts and such.) I just checked, and I posted Weller's "BBC Sessions, Volume 1" back in April 2023, and now it's May 2025. Not only that, but I skipped posting eight more solo BBC concerts from him, because I decided they were too similar to the ones I was posting. (In case you're curious, the ones I skipped were from 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2006, and 2015.)

This concert is unusual for several reasons. For one, Weller was backed by a full orchestra. He did that in the last BBC concert I posted from him, but otherwise he's rarely played with orchestras. Secondly, this concert took place during the peak of the Covid pandemic, so even though this took place in a popular concert venue in London, there was no audience. Finally, Weller had some special guests, each of them helping him to sing a song: James Morrison, Boy George, and Celeste.

This concert took place the same month as the release of his latest studio album, "Fat Pop." But what's odd is that there was very little connection between the two. As you can even guess from the album title, "Fat Pop" didn't have much to do with orchestral music. Only two songs from that album were performed at the concert, "Glad Times" and "Still Glides the Stream." Instead, the focus was on songs from all points of his music career that best suited an orchestral treatment.

This concert was broadcast live on the BBC as it happened, and also was a free webcast. You can still find it on YouTube. Later, it was officially released under the same name as the BBC concert: "An Orchestrated Songbook." I already had this recording before the official album came out, but they're basically identical. I did make one minor change though. As I mentioned above, there was no audience per se. That meant no clapping between songs. However, there were a couple dozen members of the orchestra, and there were a few moments when they clapped. Generally, they slapped their legs with their free hands while still holding their instruments. This only happened on the songs when special guests were introduced, plus after the last song. I thought it was odd to have only a little bit of clapping on a few songs. So I got rid of those few instances of applause.

This album is an hour and 11 minutes long.

Paul Weller - BBC Sessions, Volume 18: 2018-2024

Here's another album of Paul Weller performing for the BBC. This is a collection of BBC studio sessions, from 2018 to 2024.

I'm finally getting close to the end of the BBC albums from him that I want to post. I'm caught up to the present day with studio sessions (since I'm writing this in early 2025). However, I still have two more BBC concerts to post. And I assume he'll keep performing for the BBC in the future, since he's been doing so ever since he first started getting widespread attention back in 1977.

Everything here is officially unreleased, from lots of different sessions. The first four songs are from 2018. The next one is from 2019. Tracks six and seven are from 2020. Track eight is from 2021. The remainder are from 2024. A couple of the songs had some audience applause. But I used the MVSEP audio program to get rid of all of the applause, so everything sounds like a studio recording.

For the most part, the songs are originals from Weller's then-current albums, or occasionally from earlier in his music career. However, he included some covers he didn't put on albums. For instance, "Days" is the Kinks classic. "Nobody's Fool" is an obscure track also by the Kinks, only later released as a bonus track. This version was performed with Suggs, who is the lead singer of the band Madness. "What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)" is a classic 1970s soul song first done by Jr. Walker and the All-Stars. "Say You Don't Mind" was a minor hit in 1967 by Denny Laine, who was the first lead singer for the Moody Blues back in the 1960s.

This album is an hour and one minute long.

Suzanne Vega - BBC Sessions, Volume 4: 1991-2023

Here's another album of Suzanne Vega performing for the BBC. This time, it's a collection of studio sessions.

As you can see from the title, this deals with a very long chronological era, 22 years, from 1991 to 2023. So this is a grab bag of lots of different things. Everything here is unreleased, except for tracks 5 and 6, which came out on a B-side to the song "99.9F" in 1992.

The first four songs are from a concert at the 1991 Cambridge Folk Festival. Maybe the BBC broadcast more of her performance, but I could only find these songs. I removed the applause at the ends of the songs using the MVSEP program, like I did with a few other live songs on this album.

The next four songs, tracks 5 to 8, are from a 1992 studio session. As mentioned above, two of them were released on a B-side. Tracks 9 to 11 are from an appearance on a BBC TV show in 1993. Track 12, an acappella version of "Tom's Diner," is from another BBC TV show, in 1994. Tracks 13 and 14 are from yet another BBC TV show, "Later... with Jools Holland," in 1997. 

After that, there's a very big chronological jump, to 2014, for track 15. That's from the BBC Folk Awards show that year. Then track 16, "Marlene on the Wall," is from the Glastonbury Festival in 2022. She did a whole set, but if there's a worthy recording of it, I couldn't find it. This is the one song the BBC posted on YouTube. Finally, the last three songs are from a 2023 BBC "Piano Room" session. That includes a cover of the Blondie classic "Dreaming," plus a song Vega wrote about the Ukraine war that started in 2021, "Last Train from Mariupol." And there's a second version of "Tom's Diner." I included both because they're very different from each other, with this one being backed by an orchestra.

There probably are some other BBC sessions from this 22 year time period that I'd missed. (Plus I didn't find anything interesting from before 1991.) If you have them, please let me know and I'll add them in.

Freedonia - The Secret Side Project of Christopher Cross, 2018-2021- Freedonia (2018-2021) (A Mike Solof Guest Post)

With my big VH-1 Storytellers project done, this is a good time for another Mike Solof guest post. He actually has a handful of albums that he's getting ready, but this is the first one to be finalized.

Do you remember singer-songwriter Christopher Cross? He had some big hits in the early 1980s, like "Sailing," "Ride like the Wind," and "Arthur's Theme (Best You Can Do)." His commercial sales declined quite a lot after that, but he kept putting out new music and touring. In 2018, he joined a local band in Austin, Texas, called Freedonia. This band put out a studio album in 2018, another one in 2019, and an EP in 2021 (though it was actually recorded back in 2018 and 2019). Mike has noted this has basically been a secret side project for Cross, because he hasn't put his name on the record covers (even though he does all the lead vocals and most of the songwriting), and the band apparently only performs concerts in the Austin area. It seems to be a labor of love.

Mike has put together a compilation of what he considers the best of Freedonia's music. So if you haven't heard of this band, and you probably haven't, this is a good way to check them out. It's a kind of jazz rock that sounds a lot like Steely Dan. As usual, Mike has included a PDF file that gives his thoughts plus some photos.

Oh, and there's an interesting bonus track. Most people don't know that Cross is actually a really talented lead guitarist too. His 1980 hit "Ride like the Wind" has a ripping guitar solo at the end of the song that was buried deep down in the mix. But with advances in audio software, that solo has been brought up in the mix. So that's the bonus track. (By the way, there's a whole YouTube video by Rick Beato taking about that very solo that you should check out.)

Various Artists - Uncovered Ladies, Volumes 1 and 2 (1973-2021) (A Mike Solof Guest Post)

You may be familiar with a series of Beatles albums guest poster Mike Solof has made of special mixes he's made to Beatles songs. Now, he's turned that same mixing talent to editing some of his favorite songs sung by women. At my advice, he's split these edits into two albums. The first one, called "The Knowns," consist of famous songs that he has mixed to strip down some of the music to expose other parts that often go underappreciated. The second album, "The Lesser Knowns," does the exact same thing, but for songs that probably many listeners are unfamiliar with. 

As is his usual style, Mike explains much more in his PDF file, which is included in the download files.

Volume 1 is 59 minutes long, and Volume 2 is one hour long.

Mike picked the cover art for both of the covers here. Since the title of this album is "Uncovered Ladies," he wanted photos to match that theme. Since the first album consists of famous songs, he has one of them, Shakira, on the cover. Since the second album is of mostly unknown songs, the cover is an unknown sexy woman.

Fiona Apple - Cover Songs, Volume 4: 2016-2022

Here's the last of four volumes of Fiona Apple performing cover versions. I particularly enjoyed this series, and I wish it could keep going, but this is all I could find with worthy sound quality. This last volume gets us caught up to the present day, more or less (as I write this in early 2024).

All but four of the songs here have been officially released. They're from the usual mix of movie soundtracks, appearances on other artist's albums, and various artists compilations. 

As for the unreleased ones, those are tracks 1, 2, 3, and 9. The first one, "Ain't That a Shame," was done for an Internet show. The next two are from another Internet show, this one hosted by musician Andrew Bird (and they're duets with Bird). I included three other songs from that same show on the previous album in this series. Finally, the ninth song, "The Whole of the Moon," was done for the TV show "The Affair," but it only appeared in the show, not on a soundtrack for it or anything like that.

There are two bonus tracks, "All Night Thing" and "You Don't Own Me." They're both from audience concert bootlegs. Their quality was good enough for bonus tracks (some others didn't even make that cut), but not good enough for the album proper.

Rosanne Cash - Crawl into the Promised Land - Non-Album Tracks (2019-2024)

I've posted a lot of Rosanne Cash stray tracks albums in recent years. I believe I've posted nine before this one. Finally, I get caught up to the present day.

All but three of the songs here have been officially released in one way or another. Three songs, "We’re All in This Together Now," "Crawl into the Promised Land," and "The Killing Fields," were A-sides of singles not connected to any Rosanne Cash albums. "Time" is from a Tom Waits tribute album. "I've Got a Crush on You" is from a George Gershwin album. "I Am a Pilgrim" is from a Doc Watson tribute album. "Loving Her Was Easier" is from a Willie Nelson live album.

Cash has been married to John Leventhal since 1995. Leventhal is mostly a producer and back-up musician, but in early 2024, he released a rare solo album. The final two songs here are from that.

That just leaves the three unreleased songs: "Tryin' to Get Home," "Farewell Angelina," and "Crescent City." They're all from concert bootlegs. But the sound is generally close to the studio stuff.

Steve Winwood - Soulful Cover Songs, Volume 2: 2006-2021

Here's Volume 2 of Steve Winwood performing cover songs. Since most of them are soul songs, or at least sang with his usual soulfullness, I'm calling this series "Soulful Cover Songs." If you're a Winwood fan, you really need to hear these albums.

Five of the ten songs here have been officially released. "Ain't No Love" is from a Sam Moore album. "Love Will Keep Us Alive," a song written by Jim Capaldi, who was in Traffic with Winwood, was done for a tribute concert for Capaldi that later got released as an album. "Thirty Second Lover" is from a Steve Cropper album, "When the World Gets Small" is from a Gov't Mule album, and "Whiter Shade of Pale" is from a Santana album.

The other songs are from concert bootlegs. But those generally were soundboard recordings, so they sound excellent. A couple were from audience boots, but I edited them carefully until they sounded better. For instance, one thing I'm doing lately for albums like this that mix studio and live cuts is using the latest computer technology to get rid of the audience cheering on the live ones.

Larkin Poe - Porch Pickin', Episode 3, Nashville, TN, 2-13-2021

When I recently posted a Larkin Poe album, I noted that I hadn't had anything new to post from them in a long time (at least a year) due to not having anything with worthy sound quality. But then I realized that that wasn't entirely true. In late 2020 and early 2021, they did four podcasts which they called "Porch Pickin'." They're somewhat repetitive, since they were all done to promote their 2020 album "Kindred Spirits." I think Episode 3 is the most interesting, since they did some unusual songs, so I'm posting that here.

I edited this quite a lot. There's a lot of talking between songs, and I edited that down quite a bit. There were lots of shout outs to supporters who were donating as the podcast went on, and I cut out nearly all of that. There also was some conversation that just wasn't that interesting and also got the cut. 

I also edited two songs, "Heart of Gold" and "Can't Help Falling in Love." These are covers of famous songs by Neil Young and Elvis Presley respectively. In both cases, they didn't really know the songs, and were just giving them a try based on suggestions from viewers. I edited out some of their mistakes, which is why both those songs have "[Edit]" in their titles. By the way, neither of those songs were done in their "Tip O' the Hat" series (or anywhere else I know of), although the other covers here, "You Can Close Your Eyes," "Bell Bottom Blues," and "Wildflowers," are.

I'm only planning on posting this episode. However, I might be persuaded to post one or more of the other three if there's enough interest. You can watch all four of them on YouTube.

Someone made a cover image for the YouTube videos of these, posted to the official Larkin Poe YouTube page. I took that cover image and cropped it. I also squished all the text horizontally, since the original cover was significantly wider. I added in the date as well.

Morgan James - Acoustic Cover Songs, Volume 7, 2020-2022

It's been a while since I've posted any albums by Morgan James, but I'm back with more. I'm glad to see from the download numbers that a lot of people appreciate her considerable vocal talents.

This is another album consisting entirely of cover versions done acoustically. It gets a bit confusing, because I first posted six albums of her acoustic covers from the years 1994 to 2020. Then, in 2020, due to being stuck at home thanks to the Covid pandemic, she did 100 covers in a row, which she called the Quanatunes series. I posted seven albums of that. This picks up where that left off, back to more acoustic covers that aren't specifically part of that Quarantunes series.

There's not much to say here that I didn't say with earlier volumes. Although I'll note that she was especially bold with her song selection this time, covering some of the most iconic songs of all time, including "Layla" and "Stairway to Heaven!" It's interesting to hear songs like that backed only by a single acoustic guitar.

I almost didn't include "Son of a Preacher Man," because it had some big problems. The song broke down in the middle, as she and her guitarist, her husband Doug Wamble, forgot how the bridge went. However, I did some heavy editing that snipped out the problem area. There still are some bits of Wamble talking that I don't like, but I couldn't remove them because it overlapped with her singing. The song also was cut off right at the end, but I found a way to patch in a final guitar strum to give it a decent finish. All of that is why the song has "[Edit]" in the title. 

By the way, I'm most of the way to having a Volume 8, but I'm still a few songs short.

This album is 47 minutes long.
