Paul McCartney - My Old Friend - Non-Album Tracks (1996-2001)

It's slow going (when I have so many other musical artists to deal with), but I continue to post stray tracks albums from Paul McCartney. It's inevitable that people slow down as they get older, but McCartney was still going strong at this point, in my opinion.

The songs are a mix of originals, such as "Tropic Island Hum," "The New York Song," "Cohen, the Wind Is Blowing," and "Vanilla Sky," and covers. Most of the covers are songs from the 1950s or thereabouts, although "I'm Partial to Your Abracadabra" was originally done by Ian Dury and the Blockheads in the late 1970s.

Nine of the 13 songs here have been officially released. They run the usual range of first appearing on A-sides, B-sides, bonus tracks, various artists compilations, soundtracks, and other artists' albums. It's pretty much all studio material except for the live "Let's Have a Party."

There are four unreleased songs. "Kansas City (Acoustic Version)" is a studio track that was meant for a tribute album that never came out. "Let's Have a Party" was played on a TV show. "The New York Song" and "Cohen, the Wind Is Blowing" were also played for a TV show, but without a studio audience.

This album is 38 minutes long.
