I'm happy to announce that today this blog went over 1 million page views since it began. And recently it went over 1,000 albums posted. I'm not sure of the exact number of albums, since some posts like this one are announcements without an album attached. But it's a few dozens over 1,000, so I think it's safe to say the 1,000 number has been crossed recently.
I've posted a lot of music here in the past two years, but I'm still going strong and have no plans on stopping or even slowing down. There's lots more in my music collection that I want to share. I could post another 1,000 easily and still not be out of material. Plus, I haven't received any take-down notices or other problems like that. Knock on wood that the blog can continue without trouble.
Also, thanks for your feedback. It's the only "payment" I get for doing this. I really appreciate it. I'm surprised there haven't been many comments though about the music content of the albums. I think it would be neat if some people were to rate or review the albums they like the most. That could help others in deciding which ones to download.
One question. Out of the 1,000 or so albums I've posted here, how many do you actually download and listen to? Do you just download the occasional album every once in a blue moon? Or have you downloaded dozens, or even hundreds? Has anyone downloaded all or nearly all of them? Again, that's just something I'm curious about.

Cool & Congrats! I've downloaded a bunch of the albums maybe 75% and keep adding them to my ipod to listen to. I mainly get the "extra" or re-imagined albums you create in an artists discography. Thanks and keep going.

ReplyDeleteMy only request is that you would insert your great little editorial writeups inside your zip folders, so they stay attached to the albums. It's nice to go back and read your notes as I'm listening to the tracks.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! What an achievement! Yours is my go to blog. I visit your blog every day. We seem to have similar tastes so I often end up downloading the majority of music you post. I discovered your blog a while back and went on a binge. I downloaded a massive amount over several days to a spare drive that I found at the back of a draw with the intent to listening at my own speed. Unfortunately, that drive bit the dirt before I could work through it all. Now I an downloading slowly and not binging. Overall I have probably kept something in the region of 95% of what I have downloaded. I love your site.

Congrats. I have been a follower for last few months. Downloaded a lot of Eric Clapton & Van Morrison, but had issues with sound [a bit finicky], like for example, the recent Tom Petty post. Promise myself to explore the site more everyday, but have not got around to it. But visit everyday and will continue as I thoroughly enjoy reading your notes. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteHowdy, Paul. I might've downloaded, oh, maybe thirty albuls or so. What I like to do is make my own colections which fit my needs/likes, so usually I gather up a couple of albums from the same artist (say, all the cover versions from Larkin Poe) and then make my "greatest hits" of those. That means also, that I'm pretty slow in catching up with the speed of your blog, as there's always something interesting showing up, but I need time to listen and then curate the material to my liking.
Well done on reaching these milestones, Paul - and keep it up! I tend to download mostly BBC stuff - I particularly enjoyed your alternative Dusty Springfield discography.

If I could make one request it would be that you include the artwork with the album in the zip file. No complaints about content, just keep doing what you do. You've turned me on to a few artists I missed over the years. Many thanks as always.

ReplyDeletePrimarily been grabbing your compilations of 60's artists, presently quite taken with your Manfred Mann efforts as well as your home concert collections. I'm kinda of hoping artists see a new means of getting their music in these home concerts, anxious to see if they continue after the covid threat recedes some. But generally, in regards to your blog - our tastes in music are similar - keep up the excellent work!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Paul! You've been really busy here and done a great job. My blog (BB Chronicles) has been around for much longer and I don't have anywhere near 1000 posts. I will say that I have downloaded dozens and dozens of your albums, but unfortunately have only listened to a handful of them. But that's just how it goes these days, just don't have time, but I will get to them eventually. Love what you are doing and the recent compilations of the various home concerts that have streamed are great to have, as did not hear them on original broadcast, and these could easily have been lost in the shuffle. My only complaint would be what a few others have mentioned, that you should include your album notes writeups (and album covers)in the music downloads. Not always clear from titles what the album represents and your explanatory notes are much needed, valued, and appreciated (and a pain to have to copy and paste for each album). Thanks, and keep on going!

Every and all, including the artwork and notes. A collection can never be too complete. You have really added some gems here, like the BBC edits and the home concerts etc etc etc. You have made this website a fountain of plenty for many to enjoy. Thanks for sharing the wealth.
