Most of the previous albums in this series each covered one year, But this time, one album covers two years. That's because her popularity started to wane in the early 1970s, and she had fewer appearances on TV and radio. That would culminate in her recording an album in 1974 that her record company wouldn't release, and then her essentially going into retirement for a few years. So this marks the end of an era for her.
Every single song on this album is officially unreleased. By this time, her own series of British TV shows had come to an end. So these are generally appearances she made on the TV shows of other stars, such as Tom Jones, Lulu, Marty Feldman, and Englebert Humperdinck.
The sound quality varies. It's not great, because these generally come from YouTube videos. But I didn't include anything I'd consider a tough listen.
This album is 41 minutes long.
01 Ain't No Mountain High Enough (Dusty Springfield & Engelbert Humperdinck)
02 Everybody Gets to Go to the Moon (Dusty Springfield)
03 I'm Gonna Make You Love Me (Dusty Springfield & Tom Jones)

The cover photo is from an unknown 1972 TV show.
Same fan again. I'll tell ya I have collected so much I can from her. What I was impressed with even if the quality was up and down. There's barely any bootleg concerts of her. But I understand all this believe it or not. The TV and Radio even her short live TV show. She did albums worth of songs that were never on albums. I would actually overwhelmed how many TV appearancea she made with singing these in Dusty style just songs that were sung once on a show and never again. Then again making these extra studio albums some she never released. Mainly in the 1970's there were eventually released but she was cut like a whole album and then shelve it. Holy Moly the extra tracks on CD's on In Memphis See All Her Faces In London and like Longing and they were masterpieces my favorites and it's like we got one album Cameo out of all of that. Surprised the two Atlantic albums were released even Cameo. The two albums she made for United Artists she was so desperate to make a comeback it back fired after two shows in 79. A cancelled tour. Then the what ? White Heat album that's a interesting mess. And yeah the 60's with the US and UK stuff you worked it all out. Has Let's Talk Dusty seen these lol ...
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's amazing how much Dusty material there is from TV and radio that is generally unknown. And, as you point out, even with her studio material, she often got screwed and had all sorts of things remain unreleased.

Could you have a download with all of your Dusty fan albums? It'd be nice to just download one link instead of a million! Also, will you cover Lesley Gore?
ReplyDeleteSorry, one download would be way too big for Zippyshare. They have limits.
DeleteAs for Gore, I like her, but I'm not really aware of rare stuff, like BBC material, or concert recordings, etc...
