Phew!

The US presidential election was much too close, and the results were a mixed bag. It's deeply disturbing to me that so many people are willing to vote for Trump and the Republicans after he and they have shown exactly who they are. But hey, the main thing is that Trump lost and the American drift into authoritarian dictatorship has been halted, at least for now. Congrats to Joe Biden, America's new president-elect!

Now, back to the music.

  1. Agreed. The problem is that this shows a close race even though Biden got more than 4 MILLION votes more than Trump. This proves once again that the electoral college is outdated. What a terrible system.

    1. I heard that by the time all the vote counting is done, Biden will have won by 7 million. They still have millions of votes to count, esp. in California.

  2. I heard on the news just now that the crowds outside the White House had boom boxes playing "YMCA", and "God Bless the USA" because they know how much T. likes them...and they are singing acapella the old Steam song "Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye"...the power of Pop!

  5. "American drift into authoritarian dictatorship"

Seriously? I would urge you to read more history if you think that is a remotely realistic assessment of Trump's presidency.

Sigh, actually Biden's election is quite a sad thing for the world. Say what you will about Trump but he largely followed through on his non-interventionist platform. Trump resisted the warmongering of the Bolton and McCain types, argued for removing troops from Afghanistan, and refused to throw away American lives by intervening in Syria (despite pressures from both Republicans and Democrats to do so).

Trump's antiwar approach was truly a breath of fresh air after Bush's warmongering and Obama's expansive drone warfare. We dodged a bullet with Hillary (who I have no doubt would have started WWIII with her stated plans to declare a no fly zone over Syria). With Biden in charge I fully expect America to resume its interventionist tendencies and send more young Americans to die in pointless middle east wars.

Ah well, back to music, the Grateful Dead is comforting me as I ponder what's to come.

    1. And if my comment left any doubt, let me clarify that I voted for Trump (and with enthusiasm rather than reluctance).

    2. Trump had also an antiwar approach of the Covid that left 238.000 deads!
And what permit you to tell that "Biden's election is quite a sad thing for the world"?
In Europe, we have yet enough populism and we don't need more.

    3. Yeah, the whole world showed their sadness by ringing church bells and firing off fireworks. The list of terrible, selfish and outright cruel things your boy Trump did would be too long to post here. EVERYBODY is better off with him gone. And hopefully he's in jail by this time next year.

  6. Trump is a con man & a loser. He's now like a guy who's girlfriend told him "It's Over?"...but he keeps calling her and leaving love notes because he can't believe it.

  7. 1. Thanks for the incredible music you share. Undiscovered and unreleased music has been my therapy for the past several years.

    2. Thanks for not being shy about speaking your mind regarding this idiot administration. It's really nice to stop and read your editorials worrying that I'm going to encounter some Trump apologist.

  8. Trump was the President that the Washington beltway deserved. He was a desperate response from ordinary people to a corrupt political class personified by Clinton.

Biden is the President that the US people do not deserve. He is the puppet of that corrupt political class.

I'm no fan of Trump's but Biden is no solution. RIP USA

  9. Reading the responses from the two Trumpets on here makes me laugh. It’s been amazing having an adult again for president and Biden is doing an incredible job compared to the clown who tried to destroy the country but was only partially successful. I predicted there would be a terrorist attack during his presidency but even I didn’t guess it would be a domestic attack on our Capitol lead by the clown himself, although after four years of enduring his blatant destruction of the country from within, it wasn’t as surprising as the lack of response to it. Then again, he was still Commander in Chief so maybe I shouldn’t have been. Disappointed, though. Glad to see America back. Now let’s get that orange clown in a cage.
