Joe Jackson - BBC Sessions, Volume 5: Nakano Sun Plaza, Tokyo, Japan, 10-21-1986

Just a few days ago, I posted Volume 4 in a series of BBC albums by Joe Jackson. Here's Volume 5, from 1986.

Note that involves yet another renumbering. I already posted a Volume 5, which is a 1995 concert. This one slipped my attention, since it usually isn't mentioned as a BBC concert. But I found it on the BBC website, so it definitely is. Thus, that 1995 concert has become Volume 6. You can find an updated link to it here:

https://albumsthatshouldexist.blogspot.com/2024/02/joe-jackson-bbc-sessions-volume-5-in.html

This concert took place a few months after the release of Jackson's album "Big World." So naturally a lot of songs are from that. But it's a complete and generously long concert, so there are also lots of songs from earlier in his career.

The music here is unreleased. The sound quality is excellent.

This album is an hour and 44 minutes long.

That's because it isn't. Make your mind up.

Whereabouts on the "BBC Website" does it state that it is?

    1. Wow, you've been proved wrong many times on this, and yet you persist. Every time, you complain something isn't BBC, I show that it is, and then you disappear from that thread without further comment. Here we go again.

I told you that you're never going to convince me of your point of view, about what is and isn't considered BBC material. I suggested you could do something useful and share music instead of just complaining, but you ignored that. So please stop already. You erroneous complaints are wasting your time and mine. I see no need to keep responding to them.

    2. Where does it say that it's part of the 'In Concert' series? Again, the very simple point you seem to be ignoring is that just because something is broadcast on the BBC doesn't make it a BBC Production. The Genome tells you what was Broadcast and when you are incorrectly lebelling everything broadcast on the Beeb as part of their Productions. You information is not only incorrect, but misleading. Here is the info from the BBC International Catalogue, I'm sure they have a better idea of their own material that someone who can't even list venue locations correctly.

    3. I am not saying it is part of the "In Concert" series. I often don't know what particular program a BBC thing was done for. In those cases, I use "In Concert" as a default. I can often be wrong for that, I'll admit. I think that's a minor point. I'm happy to make corrections when I know the exact program involved.

Anyway, again, you make a distinction between something broadcast on the BBC and a "BBC production," and you say only the later can be called "BBC." I don't agree with that. I've been consistent on that all along. I don't know how many times to tell you that. We clearly have different definitions here. I am not limiting what I call "BBC" here just to "BBC productions." I know you have a problem with that. Tough luck. I don't see the point to continue arguing with you on this. You have made you position clear. I've made mine clear. Further discussion of this with you is pointless and it's a waste of my time and yours. If you persist trying to push your definition of this on my blog, I'll probably just delete your comments along these lines.

  2. Thank you so much for this and all your great boots that you are providing us! I personally am never worried about whether a show is or is not officially or otherwise affiliated with the BBC, KBFH or any other listing. My main concern is the artist, the date of the show and the sound quality. And like you, I prefer to have complete concerts with the artist chatter included. I love your blog site because you provide high quality boots with detailed information. I particularly enjoy your writeups about the concerts and the artists as well as the album covers. You definitely go above and beyond any other blog site that I visit! For the complainers out there: if you don't like what's being provided, why are you visiting this site? There are plenty of others to choose from... Thanks again Paul!
