KT Tunstall - Cover Songs, Volume 5: 2016-2019

I've posted four albums of KT Tunstall's cover songs already, out of six.  It's been a while since I've posted more from her, so here's the next one in the series.

In terms of the songs, this is very much in keeping with the previous albums in this series. As someone who grew up in the 1980s and 1990s, she favors covers from those decades more than those of the 1970s and earlier, though there are some of those here too.

In terms of sourcing though, this one is a bit different. For a couple of the earlier albums in this series, nearly every song was recorded in a studio and officially released. Not so here. All but three of the songs are from bootlegs, and most of those were recorded at concerts. Around 2017 or so, she started the habit of taking requests for cover songs from her audiences and doing the songs she through she could make it through without any practice first. So the number of covers she did went up. Unfortunately, the quality tended to go down, because the odds of there being a soundboard-esque bootleg for any given concert was low.

Never fear, though. I've combated that by being very selective. I have four bonus tracks this time, because those are the ones that missed the cut. But there were many more that I didn't even include as bonus tracks, because the sound quality was lower still. So, overall, yeah, the sound quality isn't as good as the ones recorded in a studio, but they're pretty close.
