By 2003, the band was long past their 1970s heyday, and they'd lost some key members. It's too bad the show couldn't have had them on during that decade. But still, it's a solid bunch of classic songs. And I'm posting pretty much all the Soundstage episodes I can find, so I'm posting this one too.
If I recall, this is from a DVD, so it's longer than the usual episodes for this show. And that also means the sound quality is excellent.
This album is an hour and 22 minutes long.

When Terry Kath died, they lost me. One of the most unsung guitarists in history. Those who know, know.
ReplyDeleteThe loss, over time, of Kath, Cetera, and Seraphine (3/4ths of the rhythm section that made them so incredible in that first decade) really hurt. Still, I have heard the band 5 times with the original group, and 5 times over the decades since then, and I have never heard a bad show from any lineup of Chicago. This show is a fine one, too, with a good mix of the original songs that we early fans knew and the pop-ish later material that younger fans (than I, at least) knew. Live Chicago in good sound quality is always worth a listen!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the posting, Paul!

Discovered something cool. On YouTube Tube, a 40th Anniversary concert called A Vehicle Through Time by The Ides of March/Jim Peterik. Didn't know he is the writer/guitarist of all the hits from the band Survivor from the Rocky movies, Baywatch theme, The Search is Over, Vehicle from the 70's, Heavy Metal by Sammy Hagar, 38 Special, and many more hits. This show has a full horn section and same band for 35 years. What do you think of it?
