Kiki Dee - BBC Sessions, Volume 3: Sight and Sound, Golders Green Hippodrome, London, Britain, 2-26-1977

Here is the third and final BBC album for British singer Kiki Dee. Like the second one, this one is a concert.

As I wrote in the second volume in this series, after many years of struggling in the music business, Kiki Dee started having hits in 1973, especially with "Amoureuse" in 1973 and "I've Got the Music in Me" in 1974. But she really hit it big with a duet with Elton John, "Don't Go Breaking My Heart," which reached Number One in both the U.S. and Britain in 1976. It seems that was enough for her to get her own BBC concert in early 1977, even though she'd had one in 1975.

In this concert, she did play her two other big hits, but she didn't play "Don't Go Breaking My Heart." Perhaps that was because she didn't have John to duet with.

She ended the concert with a Motown classic, "Loving You Is Sweeter than Ever." At the time, her version of it was unreleased. But she would release a duet version of it with John in 1981.

All the music here is unreleased. The sound quality is excellent.

Dee had another hit in 1981 ("Star"), which put her back in the spotlight. I believe that resulted in her getting another BBC concert that year, but I haven't been able to find it. If anyone has it, please share it with me so I can post it here as well.

This album is 52 minutes.
