YES!!!!

Thank you, everyone, who voted in the U.S midterm election. The Democrats have had a historic blue tsunami victory! It meets or exceeds my wildest expectations. It goes a long way to restoring my faith in my fellow Americans. We still have a long two years to go under Trump, but things should be drastically different, and better, now that the country has so clearly rejected him and his party.

Back to the music.

  1. Lame duck of a President now, investigation and impeachment unchallenged are on the horizon now. Glorious day.

  2. I am from the UK and could not be more pleased for you. I have been to America many times and follow events in your country with great interest. The last two years have been terrible for decent Americans and the world. I sincerely hope that things will now start to get better and I am sure they will. Hopefully in due course he will be held accountable for all the damage he has done.

  3. Ultimately it will get worse. He will try to change the constitution to get another term. The good thing is he came to the Presidency too late. If he had got there 20 years ago we can safely say the world would be rubble now.

    1. No way in hell will Trump even try for a third time, much less win. Keep in mind he's one of the most unpopular presidents in modern times. And his unpopularity likely to get worse, because he never learns. His strategy always is to never admit any mistake and double down on whatever he's doing. In fact, he's already hinting strongly he's about to launch a major attack on Iran again. Just last night when he was being interviewed about the election results, he said he's planning something "large" there. That will certainly backfire and lead to still higher gas prices. Secretly, most Republican politicians can't wait for him to leave the scene. Suddenly, he's the lamest of lame ducks.

But I agree if he'd won the presidency when he was twenty years younger, when he was smarter and less stubborn, we would have been in much worse trouble. And I also agree things will get worse before they get better in terms of the damage he's doing, due to his doubling down on stupid attitude.

  4. A major milestone in keeping Democracy alive in the USA. Such a sweet (and overdue) victory.

  5. You people are extremely NAIVE. Wake up, socialism and sharia law is NOT compatible in USA. Sure Trump may be this and that, the 'band aid solution party' not going to help a bit. It can only get worse now. More dead babies and our daughters don't have a chance to compete on level playing field.
Sorry to bring y'all back to reality, but you'd better get over you power drunk self because the shit is about to hit the fan.

  8. This happened in 1960, when the Greatest Generation lost control of governance to the Baby Boomers. Yesterday marks the shift of control from the Baby Boomers to Millennials and Gen Z. This has been brewing for some time.

Young people are idealistic, just like 1960 and it took them until 1980 to learn from their experience and get their heads on straight. We’ve merely entered a new cycle (only this generation will take even more time to figure it out thanks to misinformation on social media).

It’s gonna be ugly for while as this gets sorted. Republicans need to find a way to educate and appeal to young voters. Democrats will also need to adjust to the center. A very hard task with clowns like Hassan Piker being hero-worshipped.

They will eventually realize that the corrupt capitalism they have been brainwashed to hate … was actually created by corrupt government … which they had been giving more power to. They will learn that while business is checked by government, nothing checks the government. It is a sentient and self-indulgent creature.

Then comes their version of Reagan … probably around 2040. The cycle continues ...

    1. Pretty skeptical of this version--say more. For the nonce, hate lost, which seems big, and people's needs might matter, also big

  9. Any time you voice your political opinion there will always be detractors. So let us bask in the glory that Americans got off their ass and went out and said "We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore" Oh and while I'm here Tom, Otis, how the fuck do you know what's gonna happen? Nostradamus turns over in his grave again

  10. As Foreigner sang decades ago (albeit for a different reason), it's a "Blue Morning, Blue Day"! Good result for America in the long run, as well for the rest of the world. Hang in their, allies, we're coming back!

  11. I love your dog!! Our government has become self-perpetuating. Our national debt is what it is because our government has become uncontrollable, not because business did anything. The reality is our current government and its members are more interested in self-preservation than the interests of the citizens.

It truly is a uniparty, what happened yesterday was that the power of corruption swung to left, and interests aligned with them get to come to the trough. They merely pushed a different group away from it.

We need to reduce the size of the trough. But as I said, the government has become a sentient and self-indulgent creature, thats why business lobbies there. And this is why 5 of the top 12 richest counties in the United States surround Washington DC ...

    Loudon County VA (#1)
    Fairfax County VA (#4)
    Howard County MD (#5)
    Falls Church VA (#11)
    Arlington County VA (#12)

Giving government greater power and control will further concentrate that wealth far more. Socialism only works for those who control it.

    1. Tom, thanks for having the balls to put your name in your comments. And I agree corporate America and uncontrolable greed is spanning the land. But (and of course I could be wrong) let's hope some of these people got the message and will AT LEAST TRY. The other thing I'm hopeful for is that the people of The Ukraine maybe able to breathe, however small, a sigh of relief

    2. Thanks. Trump was elected on premise that many American's support ... 'drain the swamp' and America First ... but then he turned his focus internationally, and all those America First voters felt betrayed. We don't know for sure, maybe Iran was literally days away from a nuke (I would support any President in eliminating that global threat), but nevertheless, Americans felt short-shrifted and made their voices heard.

My personal inclination is to ultimately withdraw our global footprint and focus on healing the middle class here. Trump's efforts to bring business back here is a good start. This also means continuing to control immigration, so that benefits that our citizens need don't get bled off to non-citizens. The wealth of American taxpayers is finite and we cannot subsidize the entire world, but we can support our own citizens. Thats the true definition of America First.

    3. Looking at your comment from above, "Drain the swamp and America first" Trump increased the waste water of the swamp that he was gonna drain. 2nd what do we believe here first it was Iran's nuclear capabilities were "destroyed" but the in the next breath it's "They are days, hours away from blowing up the USA, it can't be both ways. What leads you to believe that business has come back to the US, the increase in the buliding of data centers? Cause that's the only construction of "new" business being brought back. I do support your comment on immigration, something needs to be done but putting jack-booted thugs in control of immigration is wrong. Heaven forbid your skin color is not a little off white. 3rd, If you don't think Trump has his hand up Putin's ass you are wrong. It's obvious Putin has his sights on a higher goal.

    4. Federal government employment was reduced in 2025-2026 by Trump from 3.01 million to 2.68 million, to the lowest since 1966. Thats a good start. Probably should be cut by another million, to be honest. His effort to bring factories back to the US is essential. Shipping our jobs overseas was devastating to us (remember Ross Perot in the 1992 debates?: https://youtu.be/VRr60nmDyu4?si=7d5ozwDlr6MK2cx_)

My masters thesis in economics was on the loss of the middle class in the US. I made a blog of it. Its a little dated, but still on target. Hope you read it: https://lossofthemiddleclass.blogspot.com/

I agree on data centers. They are a complete waste, because AI will soon be localized in everyone's PCs. Every person's laptop will soon have an LLM chip in it, giving them their own personalized AI. There will be no need to have huge data centers!!

Putin is the least of our worries, he's only slightly more bothersome than Kim Jung Un. The real threat is China. They've got a plan, and they're implemeting it using algoryhthms in our social media. They are creating a cancer here from within, and most people don't know it.

    5. I do love how you and I agree to disagree. Instead of going through your points again I will say XI Jingping is another threat that we have to keep our eye on but when you have a leader (Trump) who would rather tell Jingping about his new "Heli-pad" instead of talking about what really matters he (Jingping) has gotta be thinking this is gonna be easier than I thought. The other thing I would like to say is cutting federal employment, have you ever tried to get through to the IRS or Social Security, you need a lawer to get any kind of resolution.

    6. Socialism doesn't work? Y e a h...Sweden, Norway, Finland... pretty terrible places o live what with their rampant socialism and all. Small "s" socialism--call it social democracy--is far more compatible with democracy than capitalism, especially the sort of rapacious capitalism which besieges the world now. The accident that capitalism (well, mercantilism, but lets not quibble) and "liberalism" (the 19th C version that mostly generated today's liberals and conservatives) emerged around the same time resulted in an unwieldy alliance that worked with colonialism & imperialism and exceeding markets, a Ponzi scheme that's gone bust except for the tech bros & their minions

    7. The IRS and Social Security are made that way ... on purpose. The more the government has absorbed healthcare, the more it too has become like the IRS and Social Security. That's because the purpose of the government is self-perpetuation, not serving the customer. It doesn't have to behave like a business. It doesn't need to make anyone happy. Think of them as government-supported monopolies. They look like they don't give a shit because they don't give a shit.

I am fully confident that once Trump is gone, there will be another target selected to flagellate. Sure Trump is an easier target than most. You'll find another one. Guaranteed. Thats how tribal behavior works.

Btw. Trump negotiated with Sikorsky to throw in the helipad (as part of the helicopter purchase) and it had to be done, because the next generation of Marine One helicopters are requiring it. If the government were in charge of the helipad, it wouldn't be done yet (... back to paragraph one).

    8. Hi Eric. No socialism does not work. Sweden did try it during the 1970s and 1980s, which led to a massive financial crisis. Norway attempted socialism between 1920 into 1970. It too was deemed a failure. Finland became socialist in 1918, but like the others, was forced to adopt capitalism in the 1980s and 1990s. All three consider themselves capitalist nations. They do adhere to a 'Nordic Model' which penalizes productive people and forces them to move elsewhere. Thus the cultural definition of 'janteloven' ... the nail that sticks up gets hammered down.

ABBA was taxed an outrageous 87 percent rate in their heyday. Its also why the founder of IKEA left in 1973 and didn't return until 2013, just before he died. Don't count on any entrepreneurship coming from there. Socialism will do that ...

      2. You shall not think you are as good as us.
      3. You shall not think you are smarter than us.
      4. You shall not imagine yourself better than us.
      5. You shall not think you know more than us.
      6. You shall not think you are more important than us.
      7. You shall not think you are good at anything.
      8. You shall not laugh at us.
      9. You shall not think anyone cares about you.
      10. You shall not think you can teach us anything.
      11. Perhaps you don't think we know a few things about you?

I've been there and can tell you I would not want to live there.

  14. If Democrats focus their efforts on endless investigations and impeachment attempts that won't work, they will have blown their chance to maintain their momentum. Get down to the hard dirty work of fixing the pressing problems we Americans are dealing with every day first. That's far more important for the overall well-being of the country than wasting time and tax dollars on Trump-hunting.

    1. I'd happily settle for both, but preach. Day 1 needs to be addressing affordability, health care, etc. It's gonna take a generation (20-25 years) anyway to root out the rot of the last ten, mostly Trump/ian inspired mindlessness.

  15. I hope you're not expecting any immediate changes. Trump has been governing without Congress for the last two years and will continue to do so. Expect a lot of Executive Orders and the transfer of funds from their legislated purposes to his personal pet projects. Hopefully the Supreme Court is less lenient to him. He'll probably ignore them anyway.
