St. Vincent - Cover Versions, Volume 3: 2022-2026

Here's the third and final album of cover versions by singer-songwriter St. Vincent. Once again, a big thanks to musical friend Lil Panda for coming up with the idea and helping to put this together.

This time, the vast majority of the songs are unreleased versions, usually from concert bootlegs. The only officially released ones are the first three tracks, plus track 7. As usual, consult the mp3 tags for more sourcing details.

Also, if you think her version of "Running Up That Hill" sounds remarkably similar to the original by Kate Bush, that's because it's St. Vincent's vocals added to the instrumentation of the original.

Even though most of the songs come from bootlegs, the sound quality is generally excellent.

This album is 50 minutes long.

Here's a list of the original artists for each song:

01 Funkytown - Lipps, Inc.
02 Dig Me Out - Sleater-Kinney
03 Piggy - Nine Inch Nails
04 You Still Believe in Me - Beach Boys
05 Glory Box - Portishead
06 Running Up That Hill [A Deal with God] - Kate Bush
07 Pain for Fun - Willow
08 Breed - Nirvana
09 Lush Life - Billy Strayhorn
10 Young Americans - David Bowie
11 Grace - Jeff Buckley
12 Poses -  Rufus Wainwright

Here's the usual song list:

01 Funkytown (St. Vincent)
02 Dig Me Out (St. Vincent)
03 Piggy (St. Vincent)
04 You Still Believe in Me (St. Vincent)
05 Glory Box (St. Vincent with the Roots)
06 Running Up That Hill [A Deal with God] [Live Vocals Only] (St. Vincent)
07 Pain for Fun (Willow & St. Vincent)
08 Breed (Nirvana & St. Vincent)
09 Lush Life (St. Vincent)
10 Young Americans (St. Vincent)

St. Vincent - Cover Versions, Volume 2: 2016-2021

Here's a second volume of covers performed by singer-songwriter St. Vincent (a.k.a. Annie Clark).

This volume is evenly split between officially released and unreleased. Tracks 1, 2, 6, 7, 10, 14, 15, and 16 are the officially released ones. Check out the mp3 tags for each song for specific details about where they come from.

The others generally come from concert bootlegs, or in-person radio station appearances, or the like. Again, check the mp3 tags for more info. They all sound excellent, except for "Perfect Day." That one was from an audience bootleg with rough sound quality. But I ran it through several filters with the MVSEP audio editing program, and I think it sounds decent now.

Note that "Masseduction-One Kiss" isn't a cover in the usual sense. Instead, it's a medley of a song by St. Vincent with one by Dua Lipa, and performed by them together. I thought it was interesting enough to include, even though it's only sort of half of a cover version.

This album is 53 minutes long.

Here's a list of the original artists for each song:

01 Something on Your Mind - Karen Dalton
02 Bad Girls - Elegant Too
03 Crazy - Willie Nelson / Patsy Cline
04 London Calling - Clash
05 Possum Kingdom - Toadies
06 Consideration - Rihanna featuring SZA
07 And Then She Kissed Me - Crystals
08 Court and Spark - Joni Mitchell
09 Perfect Day - Lou Reed
10 Wouldn’t Want to Be like You - Sheryl Crow
11 Masseduction-One Kiss - St. Vincent & Dua Lipa
12 Controversy - Prince
13 Martha My Dear - Beatles
14 The Eddy - Glen Ballard & Randy Kerber
15 All Tomorrow’s Parties - Velvet Underground
16 Sad but True - Metallica

Here's the usual song list:

01 Something on Your Mind (St. Vincent)
02 Bad Girls (St. Vincent)
03 Crazy (St. Vincent)
04 London Calling (St. Vincent)
05 Possum Kingdom (St. Vincent)
06 Consideration (St. Vincent)
07 And Then She Kissed Me (St. Vincent)

St. Vincent - Cover Versions, Volume 1: 2006-2016

I started to be familiar with the music of St. Vincent when I posted her Glastonbury performance in August 2025. But I didn't know she did a lot of interesting cover versions until musical friend Lil Panda tipped me off. He sent me a bunch of covers. I took that and ran with it, finding a bunch more. In the end, we came up with enough for three albums worth.

One thing I like about her covers is she has a wide range of influences, and often some lesser known ones. Check out the below list to see what I mean.

Various Artists - A Grammy Salute to the Beach Boys, Dolby Theatre, Hollywood, CA, 2-8-2023

A few days ago, a commenter suggested I should post this concert. It so happened that I already had it all ready to go (except for making the cover), which is the case for countless hundreds, if not thousands of albums. But since it was requested, I put it at the top of the pile, and here it is. It's a Grammy salute to the Beach Boys from 2023.

This tribute was shown on prime time television, so that meant it was faced paced, and with lots of guest stars. Famous actor Tom Hanks started things off with a spoken tribute, and actors John Stamos and Drew Carey also had turns to speak.

I found a video of this concert, converted it to audio, and then broke it into mp3s. So I don't think it's circulated as an audio bootleg before. The music is unreleased, and the sound quality is excellent.

This album is an hour and eleven minutes long.

01 talk (Tom Hanks)
02 Help Me Rhonda (Little Big Town)
03 talk (John Stamos)
04 California Girls (Weezer)
05 talk (Jimmy Jam)
06 Sail On, Sailor (John Legend)
07 Barbara Ann (Hanson)
08 In My Room (Brandi Carlile)
09 Wouldn't It Be Nice (Charlie Puth)
10 Don't Worry Baby (Michael McDonald & Take 6)
11 talk (John Legend)
12 The Warmth of the Sun (Norah Jones)
13 Do It Again (Foster the People)
14 Surfer Girl (Lady A)
15 talk (Drew Carey)
16 Do You Wanna Dance (Fall Out Boy)
17 talk (emcee)
18 Sloop John B (Beck)
19 Caroline, No (LeAnn Rimes)
20 talk (Mumford & Sons)
21 I Know There's an Answer (Mumford & Sons)
22 Darlin' (Andy Grammer)
23 talk (Norah Jones)
24 You Still Believe in Me (St. Vincent)

Various Artists - Let's Go Crazy: A Grammy Salute to Prince, Convention Center, Los Angeles, CA, 1-28-2020

A couple of days ago, I posted a Grammy tribute to Paul Simon in 2022. That's not the only such Grammy tribute, although they haven't always happened yearly. Here's one from 2020, paying tribute to Prince, who died in 2016.

In the Paul Simon tribute, there was a lot of talking between songs. But in this one, this is almost no banter whatsoever. It's possible some of that was cut out of the version I found, since even the applause at the ends of songs was usually brutally cut short after just a second or two. To make this a better flowing listen, I usually patched in more applause between songs, to give more breathing room before the next song began.

There are lots of interesting versions of Prince's most famous songs here, often done by big name stars. Since most of Prince's songs are upbeat and funky, and there's no banter between songs, this plays like a party album.

Everything here is unreleased. The sound quality is excellent.

This album is an hour and seven minutes long.

01 Let's Go Crazy (H.E.R. & Gary Clark Jr.)
02 I Would Die 4 U (Miguel)
03 Nothing Compares 2 U (John Legend)
04 Controversy (St. Vincent)
05 1999 (Juanes)
06 The Beautiful Ones (H.E.R.)
07 Little Red Corvette - When Doves Cry - Kiss (Usher)
08 Manic Monday (Chris Martin & Susanna Hoffs)
09 Jungle Love - Cool - The Bird (Morris Day & the Time)
10 Darling Nikki (Foo Fighters)
11 Adore (Earth, Wind & Fire)
12 Sign O' the Times (Common & Sheila E.)
13 Raspberry Beret (Beck)
14 The Cross (Gary Clark Jr.)
15 America - Free - The Glamorous Life (Sheila E.)
16 Delirious (Maya Rudolph, Gretchen Lieberum & the Revolution)
17 Purple Rain (Mavis Staples & the Revolution)
18 Baby I'm a Star (Sheila E. & All-Stars)

St. Vincent - BBC In Concert, Glastonbury Festival, Worthy Farm, Pilton, Britain, 6-29-2025

Here's a set by singer-songwriter St. Vincent from the 2025 Glastonbury Festival.

I've got over twenty albums to post from this festival, due to a poll I made.  St. Vincent tied Rod Stewart for the second most votes in that poll, so I'm posting her album here next.

I've decided I'm going to try to keep my write-ups about most of these Glastonbury performances short, so I can be faster in posting them all. I'll just say I've heard a lot of critical acclaim about her, but I thought this set was just okay.

Here's the Wikipedia article if you want to know more about St. Vincent (whose real name is Anne Clark):

St. Vincent (musician) - Wikipedia

Like virtually all performances from this festival, I found a high-quality video file, then converted it into audio format and broke it up into mp3s. Everything here remains unreleased.

This album is 55 minutes long.

02 Fear the Future (St. Vincent)
03 Los Ageless (St. Vincent)
