I haven't posted much here in recent days, but ironically, I've spent more time working on music stuff for this blog than ever before. For the past week or so, I've been working really hard to put together a super-sized version of "The Wall" album by Pink Floyd. By using songs from "The Final Cut" album and other bits and pieces, I've doubled the length of the album! I'm pretty much done, and I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
But I'm putting a lot of extra care into this, and before I post it here, I'd like to get some feedback. So if you're a big Pink Floyd fan and you definitely would give your feedback to an early listen, post your email and I'll send it to you. Otherwise, wait a few days and the final version should be posted here.
I'm looking forward to your latest project...appreciate your work!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear what you have so far!! Big, big fan!
ReplyDeleteIf you want an early listen, I'd need your email address.
DeleteIs there a way to private message it?
DeleteSorry, not that i know of. I pretty much just use email.
Deletethere are so many reconstructions of this album....but I will be looking forward to your version
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to hear the supersized version the Wall. pjwarren@home.nl
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about taking your time with a Floyd project. You always feel that everything needs to be perfect when it comes to Floyd. I took at least a month when I cut it almost in half, just as much, if not more work to double its size. Not sure if I could sit through 160 minutes of The Wall myself but I have faith in your skills and your ability to deliver. Looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to giving it a listen. randyfrancis@hawaii.rr.com

ReplyDeleteI just sent out my email with the early version of this project to everyone who provided an email. If you didn't get the email, please let me know. For those who didn't give me your email, like Frank, acupraet, Babinga, and Uncle Dan, please do ASAP if you want to be involved.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, the final version should be posted here in a couple of days, if all goes well. Thank you everyone for your assistance. :)
Hey! Hit me up at unreleasedstuffandco@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI've got some experience with alternate The Walls >:D
As far as adding things from around the same time period, I'd say adding Final Cut material as well as some from The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. Looking forward to what you've got, sir.
ReplyDeleteWhat specifically do you see as worthy of inclusion from The Pros and Cons of Hitch Hiking? I am including the song "Sexual Revolution" from that, because there's a demo of Pink Floyd playing it from an early version of The wall. (And I'm using that demo version.)
DeleteI'm also including like nine of the 13 songs from The Final Cut! The more I looked into it, the more I realized that album is basically "The Wall, Part 2," with a thin veneer of Falklands War criticism added on top. (The songs I couldn't use were too much of the latter.)
Somewhere I have an audience recording of the incident in Toronto where Roger had the meltdown that lead to The Wall. But I always thought the lyric to "Free Four" foreshadowed the story quite well. Just.my two cents...look forward to see this set.
ReplyDeleteHey! I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance!

What a great idea (but no surprise). Would love to hear - heartsofstone13@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteEffort as an official album, love to hear the effort behind this task, surely will be a great listen...roadofstones@gmail.com, thank you
ReplyDeleteHey You! Just kidding, but in all seriousness, I have done a few mixes of The Wall myself as well as few others I have heard. This concept always intrigues me to see what others think fits the story and concept. As far as Final Cut goes, the original concept was that it was intended to be a collection of Spare Bricks, leftovers and outtakes from The Wall. I would love to hear what you've got so far. mrbee914@live.com
ReplyDeleteThanks for the interest. Unfortunately I've sent the file to all the people who gave emails here and have gotten almost no feedback as a result. (For those, it's never too late!) I'll send it to you if you promise to actually respond with some feedback.
DeletePaul, I will give you feedback if it's not too late.
DeleteI'm sure you'll have considered using some of the movie soundtrack music. Looking forward to your completed effort. Thank you kindly.

ReplyDeleteI realise I'm very late to the party on this one but, if not too late, I am interested - and would provide feedback (but given the run up to Christmas, might not manage anything until after the 25th). I got the album the day it was released and saw it live at Earl's Court in 1980 and 1981 so have had the material in my life for over 40 years! Initial thoughts: are you putting back "What Shall We Do Now?" and including the "Last Few Bricks" piece? Also, have you managed to find a decent quality copy of The Final Cut demos with the different lyrics? I never have. Obviously there are the officially released ones like "Teacher, Teacher" that reappeared as “The Hero’s Return”. Talking of which, are you including the Part II of the track from the "Not Now John" single that reveals the song’s earlier roots? The biggest question is how you've overcome the differences in sound between The Wall & The Final Cut (and the demos)??
ReplyDeletewith my last comment coinciding with your computer travails, wasn't sure whether you'd seen it or not. Hope the experts can resurrect yor data.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to listen to it! My email: danieltakata@yahoo.com.br
ReplyDeleteHey, Paul
ReplyDeleteWhatever happened to this? I am a huge fan of The Wall/The Final Cut and noticed the connection between the two way back when (especially since "When the Tigers Broke Free" was included in the film of The Wall and then later on the CD of The Final Cut. At any rate, I'd be interested to hear and give you feedback, if that's still possible.
Thank you,
summerteeth
