It is as I feared with the Tom Petty albums. As I mentioned here before, I got two takedown notices for Tom Petty albums in the past couple of weeks. Although I only got warnings about those two specific albums, virtually all the Zippyshare download links to all his albums stopped working. So I switched over to Yandex links for a bunch of them. A short time later, all of those stopped working as well, and my Yandex account has been suspended to boot. So now, all Yandex links have stopped working, even the non-Tom Petty ones. I hope that's temporary, but only time will tell.
Because of these problems, I've removed all the Tom Petty download links. I don't want to risk the whole blog disappearing because of one artist. However, you should be aware that all my files are still available through the free file sharing program SoulseekQt, and I haven't received any warnings there. So you could still look up information on albums here and find the music there (for now, anyway).
Well, you had to know that running a site like this is not the most
ReplyDeletehugely legal thing in the world. I'm amazed that yours and the other
thousands of sites like this haven't all been obliterated by the powers
that be. You're on someone's list now though. Good luck! I wouldn't
mind hearing the James Honeyman-Scott Pretenders bashing out a
version of Day Tripper though. That was a great band but it died as
a great band when he did. RIP Jimbo.
Echoing Bags Groove, Good Luck! I just a found your blog a few months ago and have enjoyed it immensely.
ReplyDeleteThought I would mention, there is another Aimee Mann track you should keep your eye out for: A live version of "She Really Wants You" recorded at Largo in LA and released as a free download on Amazon a few weeks or months prior to the release of "The Forgotten Arm." i vastly prefer/preferred it to the album version but only had it on an un-backed-up hard drive that crashed some time ago. Worth looking for!
Love your blog, so much great stuff here, and you post so frequently! A lot of great blogs post once a week, once a month, or even longer, but you bang 'em out like lightening, it's always great to check in and see what's up. You do a great job here, really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteI would love to help you out in finding these songs you are looking for, but alas, I don't have any of 'em either...
IF you posted it I didn't get (I just checked)
ReplyDeleteI'm one of the archivists of your blog and have no such Pete Townshend album. I have 10 "song collections". Five posted in 2018 and another five in 2019, but nothing with that title or that cover the years in question.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm just lucky I do have a thing for Petty, as I think I pretty much downloaded all the stray track albums you compiled, plus I'm guessing the majority of the live concerts as well, especially after he passed...as you already have stated the lost links are still available on SoulseekQt, at least they aren't totally lost LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't have the Pete album either. I have a 83-85 collection and a 90-97 one, but nothing for those years. If you did post it, it was before I discovered your site, because I would have grabbed it.
ReplyDeletesorry this is happening to you
ReplyDeleteIn addition to Aimee Mann's Swanee River how about her version of Joni Mitchell's River? It's a bonus track on the "new" UK edition of One More Drifter in the Snow and it's as expected beautiful. It'll be great if you could post this as well as the Mental Illness bonus track, Throw You Over.
ReplyDeleteI've got "Revolution" by Sheryl Crow, as well as some other stuff from hers that you might want. Feel free to email me at fj.santos.sanchez@gmail.com and we can discuss it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I sent you an email a couple of days ago about this. Did you get it?
DeleteJust to be a nice guy here's one link to rule them all...or at least most of them... enjoy! hXXps://spaces.hightail.com/receive/zMh9ZUaNTi
ReplyDeleteJust replace the XX with tt and you're good to go!
