The Rolling Stones - Ballads and Love Songs, Volume 1 (1964-2026) (A Mike Solof Guest Post)

Guest poster Mike Solof has been having some computer troubles lately, so he hasn't been able to post as much as usual. But he's back with a two volume series. His last posts were a series of albums collecting the best ballads and rockers done by the four Beatles in their solo careers. This time, he carries forth that concept with the Rolling Stones. However, he only made ballad collections. That's because the Stones have rocked pretty much their entire career, so probably 80 percent or more of their music would be rockers. But ballads / love songs are a more interesting proposition. They've had some big successes with that kind of music for sure, but it definitely cuts against the grain for them. So I think it makes a more interesting compilation.

As with the ex-Beatles collections Mike recently made, these generally all come from the studio albums. The only partial exception is that Mike made a mix of "Beast of Burden" to make it more ballad-y.

As usual, please check out Mike's PDF file included with the download for more text and some additional pictures too. Volume 2 should follow soon.

The cover images are real photos, showing the band when they were young and much more recently. But Mike picked them out and I don't know the details.
